The press relies entirely on the support of the community of readers. To date Ibis has received funding from a variety of foundations and private individuals, without whom it simply would not exist. The editors draw no salaries, and all donations to the press are used to pay for materials, production, and general overhead. Proceeds from book sales go toward keeping our backlist in print and to publishing new volumes. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.

In order for your contribution to be tax-deductible in the U.S., it must reach us through the P.E.F., Israel Endowment Funds, Inc. What follows is a brief description of the P.E.F. and its procedures.

The P.E.F. was established in 1922 to assist in providing funds for non-profit charitable, philanthropic, religious, or scientific institutions in Israel. (Ibis Editions is a registered non-profit organization in Israel –- #58-037-500-4.) The P.E.F.'s principal founder was Justice Louis D. Brandeis. Formerly known as the Palestine Endowment Fund, P.E.F., Israel Endowment Funds has sent over 200 million dollars to Israel for charitable purposes. The P.E.F. itself does no fund raising.

The P.E.F.'s procedures for accepting contributions are as follows (and must be adhered to-otherwise your contribution cannot be processed):

  • All contributions must be in the form of a recommendation and not a directive. That is, contributions received by P.E.F. must be unrestricted, but the donor should recommend that it be used for Ibis Editions. (Please use this exact name, as this is what appears on the P.E.F. computer listings.) You can be sure that funds "recommended" for Ibis Editions will reach us.
  • All checks must be made payable to P.E.F. Israel Endowment Funds, otherwise, checks received by the P.E.F. will be returned to you. Checks must be $25.00 or more. Funds will be transferred to Ibis without deduction for administration. All checks must be sent directly to the P.E.F. office in New York, at the address on the form.
  • Contributions received by the P.E.F. are acknowledged to the donor; his/her name and address will also be forward to Ibis by the P.E.F.

Once the funds have been transferred to us in Israel, we will contact you to confirm their arrival and acknowledge your support. If you have any questions about this process, please don't hesitate to write us (email or snail mail). The P.E.F. can be reached at Tel: 212-599-1260, Fax: 212-599-5981, e-mail: pefisrael@aol.com The endowment's site can be visited at www.pefisrael.org
